Probability densities for noisy delay bifurcations

چکیده
This paper gives asymptotic approximations for the probability density functions for delay bifurcations altered by noise. In these processes, very small noise signi cantly reduces the delay until the transition time. The asymptotic approximation describes the dynamics through the transition and is used to calculate mean transition times. The method is applied to a one dimensional canonical model for a steady bifurcation and the noisy FitzHugh-Nagumo model.

Gradient-Particle Solutions of Fokker-Planck Equations for Noisy Delay Bifurcations
A gradient particle method is used to compute probability densities for processes with delay bifurcations that are sensitive to very small noise. The method is particularly useful for computing the probability density in the transition region, where asymptotic approximations may not be valid. For a one dimensional steady bifurcation problem and a two-dimensional FitzHugh-Nagumo model we solve t...
متن کاملCritical fluctuations of noisy period-doubling maps
We extend the theory of quasipotentials in dynamical systems by calculating an exact potential for the critical fluctuations of pitchfork bifurcations of period-doubling maps in the weak noise limit. These far-from-equilibrium fluctuations are described by finite-size mean field theory, placing their static properties in the same universality class as the Ising model on a complete graph. We dem...
متن کاملBifurcations in a Stochastic Business Cycle Model
We introduce a stochastic business cycle model and study the underlying stochastic Hopf bifurcations with respect to probability densities at different parameter values. Our analysis is based on the calculate of the largest Lyapunov exponent via multiplicative ergodic theorem and the theory of boundary analysis for quasi-non-integrable Hamiltonian systems. Some numerical simulations of the mode...
متن کاملIn-phase and anti-phase synchronization in noisy Hodgkin-Huxley neurons.
We numerically investigate the influence of intrinsic channel noise on the dynamical response of delay-coupling in neuronal systems. The stochastic dynamics of the spiking is modeled within a stochastic modification of the standard Hodgkin-Huxley model wherein the delay-coupling accounts for the finite propagation time of an action potential along the neuronal axon. We quantify this delay-coupl...
متن کاملEffects of time delay on symmetric two-species competition subject to noise.
Noise and time delay act simultaneously on real ecological systems. The Lotka-Volterra model of symmetric two-species competition with noise and time delay was investigated in this paper. By means of stochastic simulation, we find that (i) the time delay induces the densities of the two species to periodically oscillate synchronously; (ii) the stationary probability distribution function of the...
